We did a little trip out of the big city so Journo could take some photos. We travelled out beside the river, where it quickly turned into a drain full of pollution. Plastic bottles, bags, tins and tyres lined the bank, with barely a spot to put your feet. Who knows what is hidden underneath the water. As we travelled along the road there were children in the water washing or playing, making the most of a crappy situation. You’ve gotta admire Cambodians – they seem to be able to make the most of what they have.
After travelling down this dirt road for several kilometres we came across some rice and lotus farms so Journo wanted to take her photos. Even though I was eager to walk around taking photos of flowers with Journo for hours on end, someone had to stay behind to look after the tuk tuk and camera bag, so I reluctantly stayed behind to secure our personal belongings.
As luck would have it we had stopped in front of a shed selling Anchor Smooth (beer) so I was able to settle the dust in my throat.
