Day 1 and the adventure begins. It was a 3am start and lookin’ good.
In the first hour I lost my glasses – somewhere between customs and the departure lounge. Hopefully the in-laws can retrieve them from lost property at the airport. Before that I got an electric shock while riding up the escalator at Perth Airport.
I snoozed on the plane to Singapore and failed to take advantage of the free grog. I should have jumped then. Everyone raves about Changi Airport but I can’t see what they are on about – oh hang on, I lost my glasses.
Thought I could make up the free alcohol on the next flight but I could only get half a plastic cup of beer with lunch – don’t they know I have a problem?
Landed in Siem Reap with no other problems and we were met by our tuk tuk driver Mr Marom. The road to Two Dragons wasn’t too busy so our lives weren’t in jeopardy much on the first day.
We settled into our room then went out to the dining area of the guest house where I consumed several beers then ordered a meal. A nice meal of pat Thai. It came out with a little red powder on the side. Perhaps I may have had one beer too many and thought the red stuff looked interesting. So I put one bit on the end of my finger and tried it – what a dumb arse! Proceeded to spontaneously combust. It took three cans to put that fire out.
So ends the first day of the trip – drunk, stomach burnt out and limited vision. Some valuable lessons there.
The Joker.

Yep, very happy times Jim, except for the passport dilemma…
